President Bush announced today, Friday, August 29, 2008 the Presidential Delegation to the Paralympic Games at the Opening Ceremonies on September 6 in Beijing. The Delegation includes Kevin Szott, US Paralympic Judo Team Gold Medalist from the 2000 Games in Sydney. It is interesting to note that Gold has never been won by the US Olympic Judo Team since Judo was introduced at the Olympic level in 1964 except by the US Paralympic Judo Team at the 2000 Games in Sydney. The elusive Gold for the US Olympic Judo Team continues as Bronze was the highest Medal won at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
The Delegation also includes the Honorable James B. Peake, MD, Secretary of Veteran Affairs; The Honorable Clark T. Randt, Jr. the US Ambassador to the Peoples Republic of China and Mr. Kirk Bauer, Executive Director, Disabled Sports USA; Ms. Jean Driscoll, Paralympic Gold Medalist in Track; Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Gadson, US Army and Ms. Trischa Zorn, Paralympic Gold Medalist in Swimming.
Congratulations Kevin Szott as a Role Model for all blind and visually impaired individuals considering the sport of Judo.
