Greg DeWall - US Paralympic Judo Team - Brings Home Bronze
Greg, who is blind, started out in Judo in Chico, CA under his coach Karl Tenckhoff at the Chico Judo Club. He is not considered a long-timer in this sport as he started learning Judo approximately three years ago. Since then he had been accepted to compete in the IBSA (International Blind Sports Association) World Judo Championships in San Paulo and Rio, Brazil. Greg once again Medaled and secured his place on the US Paralympic Judo Team. Greg also competes against sighted Judokas (Judo athletes) at other non Olympic / Paralympic events. Because Greg is so focused on winning, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to train under Coach Willy Cahill, the past US Olympic and US Paralympic Judo Coach and Raul Tamayo, the current US Paralympic Judo Coach and Head Judo Coach at Stanford University. Greg worked out twice per day for months in preparation for the 2008 Games in Beijing. Well it paid off with him winning his first Paralympic Medal. Keep an eye and ear out for more about this Champions that is totally blind but a role model for so many sighted, blind and visually impaired young adults alike.
