From what age can you start your child in gymnastics?
What is the "right" age to start gymnastics? Well, from browsing these Gym Chat message boards you should KNOW that you can start at any age and have fun and learn new awesome cool skills! You aren't too old or too tall... Now the question what age can you start your child in gymnastics? Gymnastics is a great sport to develop balance/coordination, strength & flexibility, and have tons of fun. Those are great reasons to start your child in a "Mommy and Me" class (can be with a dad too!) offered in many gyms to kids as young as 18 months old. Classes are normally 30 minutes long for walking-2 years old, and 45 minutes for 2-3 year olds. Around three or four years old, your child can enroll in a beginner recreational gymnastics class - those classes with those cutsie names in most clubs. At these young ages, the kids are grouped by age; later on they are grouped by skill levels. Now on to find the right gym for you. Be sure to check the Gym Chat Club Listings & Ratings Directory at www.gymchat.com/listings and my post on tips to choosing the right gym for you: http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/gymnastics-clubs/33851-how-choose-gymnastics-club.html As your child gets more involved in the sport, you will also want to keep in mind this great advice from Dr. James Gamble, orthaepedic surgeon in sports medicine at Lucille Packard Stanford Children's Hopital at Stanford: http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/gym-chat-daily-thread/138544-tips-avoid-overuse-sports-injuries-kids.html Happy gymnastics!

You could find a tumbling class for him, but don't call it gymnastics! Treat whatever you do for your two year old as an activity, not a sport. Just get him into a class, and if he likes it, keep sending him, and if not, try again in a few years. At this point it is just about fun. Work out World Reviews
