Two-time major champion Lleyton Hewitt pulled out of the French Open on Sunday, only hours before he was to play in the first round. The tournament said the Australian withdrew because of a left ankle injury. He was scheduled to play Albert Montanes of Spain on Day 1 at Roland Garros.
