FIFA closes case into English chief after watch is returned (The Associated Press)
The head of the English Football Association will face no disciplinary action from FIFA after returning a luxury watch given as a World Cup gift, the international governing body said Tuesday. FIFA's ethics investigators in September ordered football officials to return 25,000 Swiss franc ($26,600) watches that were given by the Brazilian federation at the pre-World Cup congress in June. Despite the October deadline to return his watch, English FA chairman Greg Dyke planned to give the Parmigiani timepiece to a breast cancer charity. ''As a consequence, the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA ethics committee has decided to close the proceedings in respect of a possible breach of the FIFA code of ethics,'' FIFA said in a statement.
