Stade Français kick off season with big win over Grenoble

Stade Français kicked off their Top 14 season in the best possible fashion as they thumped Grenoble 54-20 in Paris at the weekend. We've got a highlights wrap from the match, that featured some lovely tries in the second half in particular. The 2014/15 champions endured a horrid title-defending season last year, finishing a lowly 12th, ahead only of relegated Agen and Oyonanax. And while it is still very much early days - Stade began last season in similar style - it seems that the Parisians have rediscovered form at last. The hosts scored five tries to Grenoble's two, with the pick of the bunch arguably being Waisea Vuidravuwalu who finished off a spectacular team move to touch down in the corner. Gio Aplon was once again a dangerous force for Grenoble and scored a clinical double for the visitors. The South African full back started and finished his first effort by piercing the Stade defensive line before skilfully stepping Vuidravuwalu for his second. Grenoble didn't help their cause after a slow start as they lost both Sona Taumalolo and Alexandre Dardet to the sin-bin. Stade now travel to the Stade Amédée-Domenech to face Brive in round two while Grenoble return home to host La Rochelle. You can view match highlights in the video below (in French):
