With the Summer Tours now concluded, fans in the Northern Hemisphere turn their attention to next season, following yesterday's European draws that have whetted the appetites, as old match-ups can be rekindled and new climes explored.
Below is a look at the groups plus some moments from classic encounters down the years (of which we will see a repeat in 2016/17), including the infamous ‘Hand of Back’ incident from 2002.Â*
Â*
With the advent of the European Champions Cup two years ago, and the reduction in size, every year throws up some mouthwatering clashes - and this year is no different.Â*
Â*
Reigning champions Saracens have been drawn in Group 3 alongside their predecessors Toulon, as the two sides will compete to be Europe’s top dog once more.Â*
Â*
While these two are certain to be contenders for the title, it won’t be a walk in the park for the two giants as they are joined by Llanelli Scarlets, who have lit up the tournament with some outstanding tries in recent years, and Sale, who turned the AJ Bell Stadium into somewhat of a fortress this year.
Â*
Here’s hoping that the Scarlets can recreate the running rugby they produced in 2010 against Perpignan, and that we see some exciting scores being run in from all over the park.

Former champions Leicester and Munster find themselves together in Pool 1 alongside Glasgow and Racing 92, who will be looking to go one better next year and be crowned champions, building on their Top 14 victory last weekend.Â*
Leicester and Munster have taken part in some monstrous clashes down the years, but none has been so controversial as the 2002 final, when Munster had their final chance to snatch victory spoiled by the right hand of Neil Back.

Â*
Wasps and Toulouse, champions five times between them from 2002 to 2010, make up Pool 2 along with Pro12 Champions Connacht, and Zebre, who will be looking for their first Champions Cup victory.Â*
Â*
Connacht will have no fear on their travels, as they’ve done the business in France before.

Â*
In Pool 4, we will have a rematch of the 2011 final between Leinster and Northampton, who are drawn with Casters and the big-spending Montpellier.Â*
Â*
Neutrals will be hoping for a rerun of Leinster and Northampton’s double-header in 2013, when Northampton overturned a 40-7 destruction at Franklin’s Gardens to win the return fixture 18-9 out in Ireland.Â*
Â*
This was undoubtedly the greatest reversal of fortunes since Ebbw Vale turned a 108-16 defeat out in Toulouse into a 19-11 win back in South Wales in 1998, but I think we all remember that one well.
Â*
Leinster thump Saints, who then do an incredible job to turn things around
Â*
Rob Baxter’s Exeter will be looking to qualify from a Pool 5 containing perennial nearly-men Clermont, former champions Ulster, and Bordeaux.Â*
Â*
Exeter, Clermont and Bordeaux were also drawn together last year in Pool 2 - the closest group result we have seen for many a year, when Exeter topped the table tied with Bordeaux and Ospreys on 16 points courtesy of head-to-heads and a superior points difference of -3, with Clermont in last place on 15 points but a points difference of 21.Â*
Â*
Meanwhile, the tastiest of the Challenge Cup draws is Pool 4. Bristol, finally promoted to the Premiership, find themselves drawn with local rivals Bath and former Challenge Cup winners, Cardiff Blues. Pau complete the group.
Last year’s losing finalists, Harlequins, have a trip to Western Romania to look forward to in the shape of Timisoara, along with trips to Edinburgh and Paris.Â*
