Alex Ruiz found himself perfectly positioned to take the pass when New Zealand faced Canada at the Singapore Sevens recently. The only problem? He was the referee. Instinct kicked in, and for that split second Mr Ruiz probably felt like this was his moment - a chance to score for the All Blacks 7s team! Alas, he had to blow his own whistle.
