Gael Fickou back on form with Toulouse hat-trick against Grenoble

He may have been regularly overlooked by now former French national coach Philippe Saint-André, but Toulouse's prolific centre Gaël Fickou is back to fine form as he looks to revitalise his international career. He picked up a nice hat-trick against Grenoble. Fickou is regarded by many to be one of the most promising centres in world rugby, not least, his team-mate Maxime Medard, who once compared the 21 year-old to the great Sonny Bill Williams. "He is one of the 10 best centres in the world and soon he will be number one. He reminds me of Sonny Bill Williams: tall, athletic, technical, with a good hand-off and a feel for the game. He has everything." While Saint-André often opted for the sheer power and body mass of Mathieu Bastareaud in the French midfield, Fickou had to make do with occasional bench appearances, but more often than not, missing out altogether. His hat-trick last weekend in Toulouse's 52-12 rout of Grenoble in the Top 14 - to continue an impressive start to the new season - is evident proof of his comeback to form. And it is perhaps poetic justice that the man in charge of Les Bleus for February's Six Nations, happens to be Fickou's most recent boss, Guy Novès. So we may yet see a further renaissance of the young protégé in not too many months.

Below are all three of Fickou's tries in his hat-trick against Grenoble at the weekend. As a French or even a neutral fan, would you like to see him starting more regularly for France?
