"She is the actress on the stage. There is drama whether she wins or whether she doesn't" (Bart Conner-quotation from New York Times).
Athens 22 August, Svetlana Khorkina dramatically fell off the uneven bars in the apparatus finals, losing the chance of winning a third Olympic Gold. In the end, Emilie Lepennec of France took the gold medal. My heart sunk for her. In Sydney 2000, the vault was set 5cm too low by accident. khorkina crashed on the floor losing the chance of winning individual all-around title. She also fell off the UB. It was ill-fated and wasn't entirely fair to her.
"Age isn't important to me. You know they say a man sometimes prefers older women because they can satisfy him more. It's the same in gymnastics." Svetlana Khorkina told the british Times.
Svetlana Khorkina certainly contributes to the sport by adding her unique theatrical elements, elegance and maturity to the routines, changing the images of gymnastics-it is no longer a teenager acrobatics. Her exceptional height and long legs make her stand out among the gymnasts. There are a few moves being invented and named after her. While many people detest her style and comments in press interviews, she is still a big crowd pleaser, remaining in the hearts of many fans as the "Queen". Svetlana Khorkina is hoping to pursue a career in modeling, stage acting and being a business woman (she posed for Russian Playboy in 1997 and Maxim in 2004). Svetlana Khorkina is currently the vice-president of the Russian Gymnastics Ferderation. In 2005 July, Svetlana gave birth a baby boy named Slava with her Georgian actor Levan Uchaneyshvili in the LA USA.
