Three Golden Bears Compete at World Rowing Under 23 Championships Cal senior Megan Smith and junior Mara Allen helped the U.S. women's eight to a bronze medal at the World Rowing 23 Championships in Strathclyde, Scotland on Sunday. In the last quarter of the Sunday's race, the U.S. squad pushed itself into second place with Belarus commanding the lead but Germany overpowered the Americans in the last strokes to take silver. Cal freshman Taryn O'Connell also competed in Scotland as stroke for the pair U.S. team, finishing in sixth place.
