Brazilian organizers say the IndyCar Series opener scheduled for March was canceled after public prosecutors warned the race would cost too much to the government agency in charge and would be a waste of public funds. The agency in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia said prosecutors recommended the cancellation because there was a ''clear inversion in the priorities for public spending.''
