NEWTON, Iowa -- Joey Gase was a starry-eyed kid when the first bulldozer moved dirt at a site that would eventually become Iowa Speedway. Considering Gase lived just 90 minutes away in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the 0.875-mile oval became a racing mecca in his mind. "I remember when I was little kid and they were starting to build this track, and I was so excited that NASCAR would be coming to my home state," Gase said Saturday in the media center at Iowa Speedway. Driving the No. 52 Iowa Donate Life Chevrolet, Gase is coming off his career-best finish.
