When NASCAR re-tooled its Late Model Sportsman program in the early 1980s, trimming the schedule nearly in half in the process, Jack Ingram was already a three-time series champion. "I thought, 'This is going to be a cakewalk for me,' " Ingram, who will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Jan. 29, told NASCAR.com in a telephone interview Tuesday. "When they started the (Busch) Series, the only thing that counted was the national series races (and not the weekly events)."
