Do they compete already at levels 1-3, or are they in the development program (we call it 'devo' here), that is more accelerated and has more practice than the other classes at those levels, and they are getting ready to compete at level 4/5? practice schedule for competitive gymnasts: Level 4 (pre-team, but now they can compete too): 6 hours (2 hours each practice) Level 5: 9 hours, or optionally 15 hours (3 hours each practice, M-F) Level 6: 15 hours (3 hours each practice, M-F) Level 7: 20 hours (4 hours each practice, 5 days) Levels 8-10: 24 hours (4 hours each practice, 6 days) -usually levels until level 6 workout if they want also on Saturdays for open gym, but not the higher levels as they already have so much practice, but they do private lessons sometimes if they need them

I'm at aYMCA, so we're a bit less. All levels 3-8 have to go 5 hours a week (2.5 each practice). You may do up to 4 practices. Also, there is a two-hour open gym on Sundays, but only about 5 people attend on a regular basis (the same 5)

Level 4: 6 hours (3 days) Level 5: 9 hours (3 days) Level 6: 15 hours (5 days) Level 7: 20 hours (5 days) Levels 8-10: 24 hours (6 days) Levls 1-3 don't compete here, they don't have that much practice unless they choose to go in more than one class: Level 1/2: about an hour a week Level 3: 3 hours a week, 1.5 hours x 2 days

My gym doesn't compete level 4 so: compulsory (5/6): minimum 3 days a week, 3 hours a day so 9 hours but they can come more if they want optional: 5 days a week, 3 hours a day with 2 hours on saturday optional. hehe people don't always stick to these rules though, especially recently with school starting and everything.
 I'm a level eight gymnast and I work 6 days a week. Monday-Thursday= 4.5 hours Friday&Saturday= 3 hours
So you get more time on Fridays and Saturdays for other stuff. Do you like your schedule? Is it hard 4.5 hours straight - it's all in one session right? (I mean you don't break it up with practice in the morning for a couple hours and then a couple more hours in the afternoon) Here all optionals from level 8 and up do 4 hours practice a day, Mon-Sat, level 7 skips a day. You can skip or change your practice if something comes up for school or other stuff.
