Shorts in competition are winning....by a lot. :D It is nice to have a choice, like in rhythmic gymnastics. Ask your coaches and club owners to bring up changing the code of points to allow shorts in competition in their next Congress meeting!!

the Chinese team use the really high cut leotards to make their line look longer - gymnasts like Khorkina don't have that problem though. so, I agree, shorts should be optional in competition too, like in rhythmic gymnastics.

A lot of the girls at my gym wear shorts at practice. It would be cool if it was an option at competitions too.

Shorts with leos are cool: Stefani Bismpikou at the Euro's this year: Velvet leo with velvet shorts looks cool. I wear the GK ones too, they're really comfortable and look good. The velvet ones are good because they don't rip so easily like the cotton ones, and they're softer than the nylon ones.

About the sticky spray - I heard that if you use it underneath your velvet leotards it will pull out the threads!

While I like the look of just a plian leo for competition, I think we lose a lot of people from competitive gymnastics in their teen years and adult years because they feel uncomfortable appearing in public dressed in just a leo. When girls start growing into teens they get uncomfortable because their body is changing or they might have their period and they stop competing. I know lots of adults who would like to compete again, but dont because they dont want to wear a leo. I think shorts would encourage more people to compete.

I think shorts would encourage more people to compete.[/quote] You should tell them to just take the deduction - I think it's like 0.2 on the first event that the rule breaking on attire is noticed - and compete if they want to. Maybe soon it will be allowed and there won't be a deduction, seems like that's where it's going as there are the new international rules allowing shorts and pants now.
