how much do people at your gym do private lessons? now that optionals competition season is starting more and more of the optional gymnasts are doing private lessons - even though practice is over 20 hours a week. there are usually more private lessons during the competition season and when there is level testing. same for the compulsory levels - but they have like half the number of hours of regular practice. the good thing about private lessons is that if your assigned coach isn't so great at something, you can pick your coach for your private lessons. i got the good coach already for team practice! :D quality of regular gymnastics practice does make a huge difference. how much does your gym charge for private lessons?

Not that many people do privates at my gym. The gym owners / coaches encourage that there is a good workout / practice during regular workout and want the gymnasts to make good use of their regular workout.

Privates are somewhat encouraged. It's a YMCA, so it's a few steps above rec, but not too serious. I do a couple privates during competition season. It's $20 for a half hour, $35 for one hour, you can buy packages of 3 half hours for $55, one hours for $95, or a package of 6 for $95 and $160 for half and whole respectively.

Wow that's a good deal at your YMCA flyinflex! At my gym the privates rates are set by whichever coach you choose to work with. It ranges from $40 to about $60 per hour usually. They do charge less the more privates you choose to do, kind of like your YMCA's package rates.

Mostly just the compulsory girls/boys (and the pre-team levels) do privates at my gym, because the higher levels already have so many hours of practice per week!
