probably more just the club gymnasts would do it tho, don't you think, b/c of the high amount of practice necessary.
here's the article on it:
"Vaulting onto the prep scene
The Yurchenko vault, long a staple of gymnastics at its higher levels, now is an exciting new option for high school gymnasts. But just what is it?" -
One misconception of allowing the advanced Yurchenko vault is that it will produce higher scores because of its higher degree of difficulty. Not true, according to Oakes. "You won't get any more points from the (Yurchenko) than you would get from the feet-first vault,'' she said. "That was specifically addressed in allowing the vault. It was not to try to encourage a gymnast into trying something new or rushing them into the more advanced skill. The misconception early on is that they will score more. This takes the pressure off the gymnasts who can't do it.''
what the coaches think:

a couple quotes:
" ...I think the kids that are in a position to do that vault are very accomplished gymnasts already..." Roseville co-coach Mark Curley
"In football, you can choose what style of offense you'd like to run. So too in gymnastics, the gymnasts can choose what (vault entry) they are most comfortable with.''
