deductions for leaving spring board next to beam / bars
deductions for safety... http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2007/03/08/local/21859557.txt Burlington gymnast Terra Malom was beginning her balance beam routine during the WIAA State Gymnastics Championships at Wisconsin Rapids Saturday when the team's springboard was inadvertently left by the apparatus and cost the Burlington Co-op gymnastics team a penalty point. Information in a story in Sunday's sports section was incorrect.

Yeah, it sucks. We always make sure to have the board pulled as fast as possible, esp. on bars.

Well, it's better than the other rules that don't make sense - at least this one is obviously there for a safety issue, the leotard rules of how the strap has to be, and where it has to be on your hip - and of course that no shorts are allowed - are ridiculous!! yup!

I know. When a whole bunch of my non-gym friends saw stick it and heard a/b the bra strap rule they were like, "Is that really true? That's the stupidest rule ever" I told them, welcome to gymnastics!

ya, that bra strap rule is crazy! - it's like it's gymnastics, things move! tell them about the nail polish rule!! you can have clear nail polish but not colored nail polish, but you can spray color your hair to match your leotard! lol :D I asked about it, and one of the coaches said it's because colored nail polish is distracting.....it would make a bit more sense if it was so that you could tell what color your nail turns if you jam or sprain it somewhere, or something like that! ...and you can paint your face and put glitter on, ...it's just a bunch of old rules.
