Coach not spotting to 'discipline'
Have you ever heard of a coach not spotting something on purpose when they are supposed to spot and are standing there to spot and said they would spot? The reason - to discipline apparently. I would expect that he would do something if he thought something dangerous would happen, but he is testing his own reflexes then too, on how fast he can do something to help. It's ridiculous. The girl was doing a tumbling pass onto a sting mat and then to an 8-incher, the ending skill was a twist. She asked the coach to stand at the end of the mat to catch her if she would fall backwards too much, off the mat, etc. So he stands there, but then doesn't even touch her, she does fall off backwards from the mat, she doesn't put her hands down, but she falls down with half on the 8-incher and half on the floor, the back of her head hitting the floor. Not too hard, but she did say ow. The coach then says see I can't do anything at the end of the mat - ya right even one of us could have caught her from falling down at the end of her skill - and that she shouldn't tell him where to stand and that he's going to stand to the side of the 8-incher in the middle. All this time the owner is watching and saying nothing. Unbelievable. It's crazy. So she goes to do the tumbling pass again. Surprise, she stops in the middle at the end of the run part before the tumbling part, she's hesitant now. She tries again, and goes for it, and this time he over spots her on her landing, two hands, even though she doesn't need it, she knows the skill more than that and just wanted help on the landing part if she lands off the 8-incher. The coach then says, see, isn't it better where I stood, when I stand where I want and not where you want. What an ego, huh? Has this happened at your gym before? I couldn't believe a coach would take such chances. Crazy crazy ego. And what is wrong with the gym owner? She is young and inexperienced and uneducated, that could be it.

That's horrible. Are there parents watching in that gym? Or do they not allow it?

There are parents watching and they do allow watching. But the girl's parents weren't watching. It was surprising to me too, that how a coach could go to that extent to 'discipline' like that. Crazy. What an ego. And how careless.
