You can tell from talking to other people at other gyms and on this message board too, that some gyms have their gymnasts practice in really cold temps, which can cause injuries not to mention it's uncomfortable.
Here's an article on how kids have less excercise in the winter b/c it's cold and so they don't go outside to play / exercise much like they do in the summer and so they should go to the gyms: "Winter months thwart kids' exercise" -

...According to the article they go to the gymnastics gyms b/c it's an indoor sport and supposedly it's not as cold inside than outside...prob/ at least not in the gym the reporter did the article on.
The reporters should go to different gymnastics clubs and report on the temperatures during the winter months. My club keeps our gym warm during the winter months, but the state is paying clubs to do the state and regional meets and they don't heat the gym for the competition...so it's like 59 degrees farenheit or lower....now there's a story!
