The chalk in the chalk bowl or chalk bucket - whatever you use in the gym - can get wet/damp, kind of like fluffy playdough, but that's when you should have already replaced the chalk in the bowl, so the additional drying agent in the chalk wouldn't really apply there. Do you want dry chalk on the bars though? We do water spraying on the bars to have it a little wet as you see most do on the nationally televised gymnastics competitions. Some of us even ocassionally spray the chalk block directly when it feels dry, besides the gym grips. Perhaps it is better used for the other 3 uses they have listed - weight lifting/power lifting, cross fit training, and rock climbing.
