Shawn Johnson plans on competing in the Visa national championships in Minneapolis in August, and is impressing the women's gymnastics team coordinator Marta Karolyi. Nastia Liukin has not decided yet if she will be making a comeback and said she will be deciding later next year if she does.

"I started from zero and went back to the basics in gymnastics," Johnson, of West Des Moines, Iowa, said.
Karolyi is pleased with her progress. "The skills are coming back," she said. "She is looking pretty good. My only question is will her knee be OK? She will need to do hard landings."
Johnson is ready to put the angst over her knee behind her. "I've accepted the fact it's never going to be 100%," she said. "I can't constantly worry about it. It would tear me down."
When she prepares to assemble a five-member Olympic team next year (down from six in 200, Karolyi will look for an intangible quality that she said Johnson possesses. "The bottom line is who can function under pressure? Shawn proved she can do it."
Liukin, too, has that quality, but as Karolyi said, "she's still delaying" a decision on returning.
