Gross strange latest weight loss diet (or placebo effect) - Urine Injections
Gross and strange, the latest weight loss diet - or more like placebo effect - in the media now is, believe it or not, daily urine injections. Fact or fiction, insane or miracle drug, Sheryl Paloni believes in this very unorthodox weight loss program because of her own experience with it, losing 43 pounds and more than 30 inches in 6 months:
"Physically I feel better. I feel light on my feet," said Paloni. "For me, the proof is in the pudding," she said. .. "I thought, 'My goodness, you could lose a pound a day just taking a shot? I'm going to find about about this,'" said Paloni. .. "It's an amazing thing. It really is. When I took a shot I was never hungry. I'm not hungry. I've learned how to eat better. I feel great and I truly believe that I will not put the weight back on," she said.
Iris McCarthy of Success Weight Loss Systems, a weight loss counselor who offers the program, explains the concept by identifying the hormone in the urine - which is from pregnant women - as responsible for helping others take off the pounds.
"It's human coriogonic gotrophin," said Iris McCarthy of Success Weight Loss Systems. She said HCG tricks your brain into thinking you body is pregnant. McCarthy said science has shown her HCG helps the body metabolize faster. "This will help you have patience to learn how to change your ways and change your relationship with food," said McCarthy.
The real truth behind this unorthodox method is not the urine though but the well known cure for obesity, the secret to losing weight - eat less and you will lose weight. In fact, the program comes with a very restrictive low-calorie diet. There is no wonder or miracle drug involved, unless you are counting the placebo effect, but all placebos aren't harmless, and not just on your wallet (the program costs $300-$565 for 6 weeks).
"The HCG doesn't have anything to do with the weight loss," said Dr. Barry Ramos, a cardiologist. "The fact is if you go on a 500 calorie-a-day diet, you lose weight. The bottom line is, it's potentially dangerous because you don't know what you're injecting in your body. The best way to lose weight is diet and exercise," he said.
The book on the secret to lose weight only needs to be 2 pages. First page says "Eat Less", second page says "Exercise".
