A former longtime Fiesta Bowl chief executive who acknowledged participating in an illegal campaign contribution scheme faces sentencing Thursday in federal court. John Junker pleaded guilty two years ago to a federal conspiracy charge after being accused of being involved in the scheme in which bowl employees made illegal campaign contributions to politicians and were reimbursed by the nonprofit bowl. Bowl employees were reimbursed at least $46,000 for campaign contributions. Prosecutors want a one-year prison sentence, while Junker has asked for probation from U.S. District Judge David Campbell.
