Oregon has promoted linebackers coach Don Pellum to defensive coordinator, replacing Nick Aliotti, who retired after 17 seasons following the Ducks' 30-7 win over Texas in the Alamo Bowl. Pellum will continue to coach Oregon's inside and weak-side linebackers. Pellum says he welcomes the challenge of his new position ''with open arms.''
