LSU vs. Georgia Gym Dogs at Athens Georgia
The SEC (southeastern championships) LSU vs. Georgia was on tv today on ESPN2. It was awesome to watch. Some cool things: One of the girls did the moonwalk on the beam, to a Michael Jackson song I think - it went with the music. Ya, music on beam, with words, lol. That's college gymnastics. :D One of the Georgia girls did like a break dance move kind of thing - backhandspring without hands and kind ofl ike with her head! :D Like some of the dancers do on that show 'So you think you can dance'. Courtney Kupets looks awesome!! Totally shows that she was thinking of coming back to Elite gymnastics to the 2008 Beijing Olympics! She still could too! :D Courtney Kupets - Bars [2007 Georgia vs. LSU] 9.875 Courtney Kupets - Beam [2007 Georgia vs. LSU] 9.90 The 2 Courtneys on Georgia's team - hard to beat! One of the things that helps Georgia's program is that the coach lets them pick their own routine - when you like your routine and get to pick it, you can 'sell' it better. In this video the commentators are talking about how their coach Suzanne Yoculan says that then they can get into it more, have more fun, do better. Head coach Suzanne Yoculan is retiring after the 2009 season, and the assistant coach Jay Clark will fill in that position:
ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia gymnastics coach Suzanne Yoculan, who has led the Gym Dogs to eight NCAA national championships, will retire from her head coaching position following the 2008-09 season according to an announcement Wednesday by UGA Director of Athletics Damon Evans.
