Baltimore Orioles utility man Steve Pearce has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle on his left side. The move is retroactive to July 19 and it opens a roster spot for pitcher Kevin Gausman, who was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to start Wednesday night against the New York Yankees. Pearce says he's been getting treatment on his sore oblique for a couple of days and ''it's time to take care of it.''
