
LSU and Louisiana-Lafayette, whose campuses are separated by little more than 50 miles, both looked like strong contenders to make last year's College World Series until they were each upset in consecutive NCAA tournament games on their own fields. The Tigers, the No. 2 national seed, swept three games in their home regional last weekend. UL-Lafayette, a No. 3 seed at the Houston regional, swept three games as well.
