Jana Bieger - news on her
"Bieger brings experience to Worlds": http://www.wcsn.com/article/news.jsp?ymd=20061010&content_id=8294&vkey=gymnastics_news&id=34012&dpre=
Gymnastics has always been in Bieger's blood. Her mother competed for West Germany in the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics. The younger Bieger, who turns 17 in November, was born in Kiel, Germany but moved to south Florida at age 7. Under the tutelage of her mother, she has steadily climbed the ranks to gain a prominent spot in U.S. gymnastics. "It's great having your parent coach you," Bieger said. "They know you the best. Especially if you are coached by a parent who has experienced the sport. They have been through it and they know how to handle it. From injuries to getting ready for competitions." Bieger required knee surgery at 15, but was back in the gym tumbling and vaulting just four months later. Andrea, now a doctor specializing in sports medicine and physical therapy, supervised her daughter's rehabilitation and now that injury is deep in the rearview mirror.
Jana's mom is a doctor! And her coach! Guess the times workout. :D
