some part of the article:
"Retton says she wishes she had a mentor when she pursued her gymnastics dreams more than a quarter century ago. She now takes on that role for Kelley, hoping to impart wisdoms that will help Kelley deal with the personal challenges of being a world-class gymnast. "Natasha and I have a great relationship," said Retton. "I take her to lunch all the time. When she hangs out with her friends outside the gym, they just don't get (what it takes to be an elite gymnast). I get it. I've lived it, and done it."
Retton says Kelley needs to work on developing her personality within the sport. "She's a great young girl, has a great personality, but she's a little shy," said Retton. "She needs to open up a bit, smile, show the crowd that she's out there enjoying herself."
Kelley, who is home schooled, admits she is a "quiet and serious person." She started gymnastics at the age of three because she says, "she was flipping all over the house."
