Women's gymnastics: Shawn in first, Nastia close second after day 1 of competition for the women: 1 Shawn Johnson 64.000 2. Nastia Liukin 63.500 3. Chellsie Memmel 62.250 4. Samantha Peszek 61.850 5. Ivana Hong 60.850 6.Jana Bieger 60.100 7. Mattie Larson 59.550 Very interesting commentary on IG:
IG Live Update: 6:59 PM: The gymnasts are have finished their warmup and are leaving for march in. Interestingly, last night after the men's competition, the floor AAI floor was dismantled and a Janssen-Fritsen floor was put in. (The equipment in Beijing will be all JF, and the women's program insists on using it in competition). However the blue AAI carpet was rolled over the JF floor so it looks like it is AAI. The uneven bars are also JF, but they have been painted blue and "AAI" was painted in white on the side! They will dismantle the floor exercise again tonight for Saturday's men's finals, and once more for Sunday's women's finals.
http://www.intlgymnast.com/events/401.html (also good commentary there on the routines) Covered the JF floor with AAI carpet and painted the bars with AAI symbol! lol Guess JF will be happy they go to those lengths to use the equipment when it looks like they have to use AAI for the sponsorship deals they must have...but not that they cover it up like that. Wow! lol Leotards: All the girls wore the team red/violet team leos except Nastia Liukin wore a white leo and Shayla Worley a pink and white leo. Guess you don't have to wear the national team leos for Olympic Trials. Makes sense.

Wow! lol
That's crazy! It's like mis-representation! Like you're in the stands thinking they're tumbling on an AAI floor or swinging on AAI bars when it's really Janssen-Fritsen. Since in Beijing it will be all JF equipment, it will be good to compete the Olympic Trials on them to have fewer variables, Martha Karolyi probably insisted on it, even though they had to go through all that. AAI is a sponsor - they're on the USA Gymnastics website, on the right side for the banner of the USA Olympic Trials. From USA Gymnastics website:
Johnson earned the night
