2008 Greek Championships, March 1-2 in Thessaloniki
Stefani Bisbikou won her third title, but injured knee on vault landing:
Bisbikou suffered a partially torn meniscus on her left knee, and she is facing the danger of missing the European Championships, April 3-6 in Clermont-Ferrand, France. According to the initial diagnosis, Bisbikou will have to rest for at least 20 days, so she will have little time to prepare for the European Championships. Subsequently, Bisbikou had to cancel her participation at the Doha World Cup, taking place this week in Qatar. Bisbikou's injury happened on vault, which was her last apparatus of the all-around competition. She executed her new vault for the first time in competition, but got injured on landing. (Apparently, she put too much pressure on her knee.) Nevertheless, Bisbikou managed to win the national all-around title for the third year in a row, because the misfortune struck after her last apparatus.
Results: 2008 Greek Championships March 1-2, Thessaloniki Senior Women's All-Around 1. Stefani Bisbikou is doing some rehab now for her knee injury from the landing of her new 1-1/2 twisting Yurchenko vault at the Greek Championships March 1, getting ready for the 2008 Beijing Olympics:
"The injury has caused the least damage one would expect," Bisbikou said Sunday. "There is a light problem in the inner meniscus, and the inner side-conjunction. It will take approximately 15-20 days of therapy. No operation is needed."

Bisbikou is currently undergoing physical therapy "to strengthen the muscles and take away the inflammation," she said. As a result of her injury, Bisbikou will not participate in next month's European Championships in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Last year she tied for the bronze medal on balance beam at the European Championships in Amsterdam, becoming the first Greek senior female gymnast to win a medal in European Championships history. Bisbikou said she is confident her knee will be healed in time for Beijing. "I hope (the injury) won't affect my outlook a lot, since there is plenty of time, and I had stabilized my new exercises quite well," she told IG. "But, one way or another, I will have to try hard after going back to training."
http://intlgymnast.com/news/2008/mar/031008_bisbikou.html
